Create and use promo codes

Create coupons in the studio Stripe Dashboard. Turn on Allow promo codes at checkout. Codes from another Stripe account will not work.

Who can do this: Studio managers turn on the App & Site promo-code toggle. Anyone with access to the studio Stripe Dashboard creates the code. Students enter it at Checkout.

Checkout for recurring memberships and class packs can show Stripe’s “Add promotion code” field when App & Site → Allow promo codes at checkout is on.

Drop-ins, private sessions, late-cancel fees, and no-show fees do not accept a code.

Student charges use the studio’s own Stripe account under Settings → Integrations. Create coupons and promotion codes in that same studio Stripe Dashboard.

Create a coupon

  1. In the studio Stripe Dashboard, open Product catalog → Coupons → New.
  2. Choose percent off (studios often use 10 for a verified student) and duration (Once, Repeating, or Forever).
  3. Optionally limit the coupon to membership and class-pack products, especially if you pass card processing fees to the student.

Create one promotion code

  1. Open the coupon → Promotion codes → create a code such as STUDENT-JANE.
  2. Recommended: Max redemptions: 1 so it cannot be shared.
  3. Give the student the code after you have verified them. There is no automatic student check in the app.

How the student uses it

They sign in, buy a membership or class pack, tap Add promotion code on Stripe Checkout, and pay the discounted amount. Stripe Checkout accepts one promotion code per session.

Gotchas

  • Deactivating a code stops unused redemptions. It does not by itself remove a discount already on a subscription — remove the coupon on that subscription in Stripe.
  • The client Membership tab does not yet show the coupon. Look in the studio Stripe Dashboard.
  • Processing-fee lines are calculated from the listed price before the code is typed.
